About Us.

The Australian Portfolio Photographic Society (generally called A.P.P.S.) has been in operation for over 60 years and continues today to give pleasure to a large number of photographers all over Australia.  Originally founded as a postal camera club for country residents: it also caters today, for city and suburban members who may not have the opportunity to attend a formal camera club because of locality or work or study commitments.  Also active in A.P.P.S. are many members of camera clubs who enjoy the extension of their hobby through participation in the A.P.P.S. movement.

How It Works.
Each month.  Members receive a folio of prints or slides through the mail. Members are divided into “circles” comprising up to 10 members, who upon receipt will judge the entries, award points, make comments on the members entry sheet, forward the folio to the next member on the mailing list and send the secretary the point scoresheet.  It is a very simple procedure and it also includes a notebook in which members correspond with each other.  Many firm friendships have resulted from membership of A.P.P.S.
